Mexico City Climate (El Clima de la Ciudad de M�ico)


Mexico City
is located on Mexicos high central plateau and thus faces the high altitudes of 7,000 feet. It mostly has a spring like climate around the year Summer months of June to September are usually marked by spells of afternoon rains . Usually the rains in Mexico City lasts for a few hours after which the sun comes out and the air is much cleaner. The winter evenings (December-February) can get cool enough so carry your jacket along! The best times to visit Mexico City would be the Easter week and the Christmas holidays Always take along a sweater and a light jacket.


Mexico Money (El Dinero de Mexico)

The Currency system in Mexico is different from other countries. The currency used here is known as New Peso. It's best to bring US-dollar denomination traveler's checks and some US dollars .
Currency :
Note that a new (peso) = 100 centavos. Notes are in denominations of peso 500, 200, 100, 50 and 20. Coins are in denominations of peso 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1, and 50, 20, 10 and 5 centavos.

Currency Exchange :
For Currency exchange deal with authorized banks (los bancos autorizados).The exchange rate of the Mexican peso against Sterling and other hard currencies has, in recent years, been subject to considerable fluctuation.

Travellers Cheques :

It's best to bring US-dollar denomination traveler's checks and some US dollars Note that bank exchange facilities are open daily. Travelers cheques or letters of credit in US Dollars issued by well-known banks or travel organizations are readily negotiable in banks and hotels.

Credit Cards:
Airlines, car rental companies and more expensive hotels and restaurants readily accept major credit cards. There is a government tax of six per cent on credit transactions.

Mexican Nuevo Pesos are actually demarcated with a $ sign, so to distinguish from the US Dollars (US$) that are also in use, especially in areas frequented by tourists, the symbols M$, N$ or NP are found. It is worthwhile keeping the current exchange rate in mind, as some establishments offer better deals when paying in Dollars rather than Pesos and vice versa.
